The People and Places of Kaduna State.

Kaduna state has twenty-three(23) local government areas and 32 autonomous traditional institutions in the from of Emirates Councils mostly in the Northern part and Chiefdoms in the southern part.

Kaduna State people are highly religious. The major religions in the state are Islam and Christianity, with Islam predominately practiced in the Northern part and Christianity in the southern part. Traditional religions is still being practiced in some areas within the state, side with the two orthodox religions.

Kaduna State people are known and recognized for their hospitality, that is why it is described as the melting pot of Nigeria. This is more pronounced under the dynamic leadership of our governors,leaders and decision makers. This has enhanced the economic growth of Kaduna State in no small way.









POPULATION
Kaduna State is one of the most densely populated states in Nigeria. This is as a result of the Liberal nature of the state that it accommodates all kinds of people. It has a population of Six million, One hundred and Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred and three (6,113,503) the state capital, kaduna has an estimated population of 1.3 million according to the 2006 population Census.

Some of the major ethnic groups in the state includes: Hausa, Fulani, Bajju, Ham, Gbagyi, Koro, Kaninkon, Gure, Kurama, Atyap, Ikulu, Aegorok, Atakad, Adara, Chawai, Kagoma, Kahugu, Ninzo and Numana.

It should be noted however, that other ethnic groups like Yoruba, lbo, Igala Nupe, Tiv, Ijaw,lsekiri, Idoma etc, co-exist peacefully with the indigenous groups mentioned above all over the state.
